EFFECTIVENESS OF ANALYTICAL LABS AND COSTS REDUCTION Print E-mail

The Marine Biotechnology Research Centre (MBRC) has been offering for several years analytical testing, method development and validation in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). With an establishment license in hand, the MBRC is now tackling the problem of chemical supplies and reduction of operating costs.

One of the most important concerns of the biopharmaceutical world today is the global shortage of acetonitrile, a solvent used in large quantities during the analysis of raw materials and finished products. This implies huge delays for the marketing of new products and their ongoing development. Most pharmacopoeias refer to methodologies dating back several decades, often using considerable amounts of acetonitrile.

Recently, analytical technologies made surprising progresses and the MBRC always studied and implemented these evolving elements. The work performed by the MBRC for pharma and biopharma companies is on the cutting edge for achieving efficiency and effectiveness. For example, many methods have been successfully adapted or modified to use other types of solvent and to reduce analysis time.

The MBRC is proud to adapt methods to use alternative solvents. But this is only one of the ways to reduce costs. In fact, cost reduction can be achieved through the optimization and upgrading of current methods by using the most up to date technologies. By this, it is possible to reduce by 80% the use of material and time. All this, to the delight of quality control groups, who are always under pressure for releasing products on the market and conducting stability studies.

The mindset of the industry is sometimes "even if these old methods are very expensive to run, they represent a lower risk." Fortunately things are changing very quickly. Today, not evolving in order to keep up with the new market reality is taking a risk.

The regulatory aspect of the work is also well covered by the MBRC. All monitoring and documentation that may be required by such changes are produced with care and professionalism as required by various regulatory agencies.

The MBRC is a renowned business partner capable of implementing innovative solutions, carry out optimization methods and support the analysis of products under development intended for human consumption.
